Cologne 2027: concerts, sport & events
Confirmed so far for Cologne 2027: 20 concerts, including Ayra Starr (20 Jan), Almost Monday (2 Feb), JPEGMAFIA (17 Feb), John Summit (19 Feb), Emeli Sandé (27 Feb).
The first thing to settle for Köln 2027 is which bank of the Rhine you are on. The big halls sit on the right bank: the LANXESS arena in Deutz, with room for up to around 20,000 at concerts, and the Palladium and E-Werk in Mülheim, almost opposite each other. On the left bank, around the cathedral, the Altstadt and Belgian Quarter, you find the smaller club nights, with Ehrenfeld as the live-music neighbourhood. Out west in Müngersdorf, the RheinEnergieSTADION takes around 50,000 for open-air shows.
The concert calendar has an unusual shape. Carnival season opens on 11 November 2026 and runs to Ash Wednesday, 10 February 2027, with Weiberfastnacht on 4 February and Rosenmontag on 8 February. Local dialect bands fill halls and sessions in those weeks, and rooms are hard to find. In summer the action moves outdoors to the Tanzbrunnen, the stadium and, just down the river, the KUNST!RASEN meadow in Bonn.
Other dates to watch: gamescom at Koelnmesse (reported as 23 to 29 August 2027), the Kölner Lichter fireworks (a date of 31 July 2027 has been reported), c/o pop and ColognePride. Where an official date is missing we say so and give the usual timing.
In football, 1. FC Köln are in the Bundesliga for 2026/27 according to our data, playing at the RheinEnergieSTADION, reached directly on Stadtbahn line 1. Bayer Leverkusen are a short train ride away.
Getting around is easy: the main station is a rail hub, Messe/Deutz is one stop away and is the better exit for the arena, and you can walk across the Hohenzollern Bridge. Stadtbahn line 16 links Köln and Bonn. If you can, look at weekday shows and smaller halls, where tickets tend to stay available longer. Check the last trains home before a late show, book rooms early for carnival and gamescom, and treat resale prices as potentially above face value.

How do I get to the LANXESS arena?
Köln Messe/Deutz station and the Stadtbahn stop Deutz/LANXESS arena are next to the hall. You can also walk from the main station across the Hohenzollern Bridge, which is often quicker after a sell-out show.
When is carnival in Köln in 2027?
The season opens on 11 November 2026. Weiberfastnacht is 4 February 2027, Rosenmontag 8 February and Ash Wednesday 10 February, calculated from Easter on 28 March 2027. The parade programme is set by the Festkomitee.
How do tickets usually go on sale?
Typically a presale first, then general sale through Ticketmaster or Eventim. Resale can be above face value for popular shows. Confirmed concerts with dates and prices are listed on this page.
Where should I stay for a concert?
Deutz for the arena and Koelnmesse, Mülheim for Palladium and E-Werk, Ehrenfeld for Live Music Hall. Book early for carnival and gamescom; Leverkusen or Bonn work if the last train fits.
What is the weather like for open-air concerts?
Summer is the open-air season, early July to late August at the Bonn meadow. It can be warm but turns rainy quickly, so pack a jacket. Winter and carnival weeks are cold and often wet.
